Opening of Gocheok Open Library in Guro-gu

Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) opened the Gocheok Open Library on the 23rd.


The Gocheok Open Library was established on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Gocheok I-Park mixed-use complex, covering a total floor area of 1,739㎡.


The 3rd floor houses the Children's Reference Room, Storytelling Room, and Nursing Room, while the 4th floor includes the General Reference Room, Lecture Rooms, Multipurpose Room, Media Room, and Study Rooms.


On weekdays, the Children's Reference Room operates from 9 AM to 6 PM, and the General Reference Room from 9 AM to 8 PM. On Saturdays and Sundays, the library is open from 9 AM to 5 PM. It is closed every Monday and on legal holidays.


The opening ceremony was held at 3 PM on the 23rd. About 100 people, including District Mayor Moon Heon-il, members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, and residents, attended. The event proceeded with congratulatory speeches, a ribbon-cutting, and a facility tour.


The library prepared opening commemorative programs such as stamp travel, balloon art, calligraphy bookmark sharing, and sound plays.

A Guro-gu official stated, “We have prepared about 20,000 volumes and various programs,” adding, “We hope visitors enjoy the double pleasure of shopping nearby and reading books.”
