18 Events, 250 Participants Compete in Fierce Battle, Regain 1st Place with 8 Consecutive Wins
The Jeonnam Mokpo City team held a pledge ceremony for the 31st Jeonnam Disabled Sports Competition, vowing to achieve the goal of overall first place.
According to the city on the 23rd, the Mokpo Disabled Sports Association held the ceremony on the 22nd at the Mokpo International Football Center Multipurpose Gymnasium, with about 200 attendees including Mayor Park Hong-ryul, National Assembly member Kim Won-i, Mokpo City Council Chairman Moon Cha-bok, Mokpo Disabled Sports Association Executive Vice President Yang Gwan-ok, heads of sports organizations, and the athletes.

The event began with the opening announcement, followed by participation reports, flag handover, encouragement speeches and congratulatory addresses, presentation of encouragement funds, introduction of the athletes, and the representative oath, demonstrating a strong determination for victory.
The 31st Jeonnam Disabled Sports Competition will be held from the 24th to the 26th at the Cheonghaejin Sports Center in Wando County under the slogan "Let's Run Together on the Healthy Island Wando," with about 15,000 participants engaging in a passionate sports event.
The Mokpo City team, which achieved overall third place at last year's Jeonnam Disabled Sports Competition held in Suncheon City, expressed their determination to reclaim first place overall and continue their eight consecutive championship streak.
In this competition, Mokpo City will field a team of 250 participants (157 athletes and 94 officials and guardians) competing in 18 events: gateball, goalball, golf (park), billiards, dance sports, lawn bowls, sitting volleyball, badminton, boccia, bowling, swimming, horseback riding, weightlifting, athletics, rowing, soccer, table tennis, and taekwondo.
Mayor Park Hong-ryul, head of the Mokpo Disabled Sports Association, said, "I am proud of each and every participant who overcomes adversity to compete in the event," and added, "We will cheer together with the citizens of Mokpo so that their efforts bear fruit."
