Exploring Dongcheon Estuary Inland Wetlands Along the Waterway
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that since the 20th, it has been operating a small ecological experience boat called "Mujinho" at Suncheonman Wetland.
"Mujinho" provides a new route for visitors who get off at Suncheonman Station after riding the Sky Cube (National Garden ~ Suncheonman) to explore the Dongcheon estuary inland wetland by boat along the waterway and enter the Suncheonman Wetland.
The course operates one-way from Suncheonman Station dock (Literature Hall) to Mujin Bridge in Suncheonman Wetland (approximately 1.2 km) and takes about 15 minutes.
The boarding fee is 3,000 KRW for adults, 2,000 KRW for adolescents, and 1,000 KRW for infants, and tickets can be purchased on-site at the Literature Hall dock.
At the Dongcheon estuary inland wetland where the ecological experience boat operates, various species such as the endangered level 2 Red-clawed Crab, Hooded Merganser, Terek Sandpiper, and Whooper Swan can be seen seasonally.
Unlike the existing mudflat ecological experience boat (Ecopia) that operated along the S-shaped waterway, this boat travels through reed forests densely populated on both sides, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the unique charm of Suncheonman Wetland.
Meanwhile, Suncheonman was designated as a wetland protection area in 2003, the Dongcheon estuary inland wetland protection area in 2015, and was registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in 2021.
