3 Days and 2 Nights, Over 150 Camping Teams Nationwide Participate
Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced that it successfully concluded the "2023 Jeollanam-do Forest Camping Festival" held for three days from the 19th to the 21st at Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest to promote camping leisure culture.
The festival attracted over 150 camping enthusiast teams and about 500 participants nationwide, who enjoyed various programs in the phytoncide-rich forest, spending healing time.
In particular, the camping cooking class with a culinary expert introduced simple and easy-to-make outdoor dishes (grilled cartilage and rice balls), and the forest busking performance featuring local artists and spectators offered participants a romantic and enjoyable night under the starlit forest.
At the opening ceremony on the 20th, distinguished guests including the Mayor of Gwangyang, the Head of the Eastern Regional Headquarters of Jeonnam Provincial Office, provincial council members, and city council members performed a 300-serving Seomjingang clam bibimbap making performance, sharing the bibimbap they made with festival participants to foster camaraderie.
Mayor Jeong In-hwa of Gwangyang said, "I sincerely welcome everyone who visited the most beautiful forest camping site at the foot of Baegunsan," adding, "I hope you receive much of nature’s good energy during your stay here and continue to visit Gwangyang, the hometown of style and taste."
The Gwangyang tourism tour held that day featured a cultural tourism guide from Gwangyang City who introduced Okryongsaji Temple Site, Jeonnam Provincial Museum of Art, and Gubongsan Observatory, actively promoting Gwangyang as a sustainable global future city.
Additionally, among the local agricultural specialty products sold during the event, items directly cultivated by local residents such as plum extract, dried persimmon slices, sprout ginseng, bulgogi sauce, seaweed chips, Jangjigi rice cake, and ginger candy were highly popular with visitors, contributing to the income improvement of residents.
Mr. Lee, who participated with his family from the metropolitan area, said, "I was happy to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest and make memories with new people," adding, "I want to visit the recreation forest again soon and experience the various sights and foods of Gwangyang."
