Gominjeong: "Kim Namguk Coin Scandal Resembles President Yoon"

"Ask How Proud the Democratic Party Is..."
"Should Resemble Former President Roh, Not President Yoon"

Ko Min-jung, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party of Korea, mentioned former member Kim Nam-guk who left the party, saying, "The image of the Democratic Party reflected in the coin incident looked very much like President Yoon Seok-yeol in the eyes of the public."

On the 22nd, at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, Ko stated, "Regarding this (Kim's) coin incident, we were neither agile nor resolute."

Ko said, "Ahead of the April 19 (Revolution Memorial Day), the Democratic Party reflected on how proud it was before the history of April 19," adding, "This is because the party, which vowed to follow those who sacrificed their lives to uphold the noble values of democracy, was hit by the party convention money envelope scandal."

She continued, "Anyone can make mistakes. However, what matters more is how sincerely one resolves the issue," and pointed out, "We see that bad precedent in President Yoon."

Ko criticized, "(President Yoon) scolds others, asking why they do not believe him rather than admitting his own mistakes. He judges the world only by the law’s standards, not by the people's sentiment. He is always busy blaming others instead of himself."

She added, "To check the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, which is marked by incompetence and arrogance, and to set the country right, we just need to avoid acting like President Yoon," and pointed out, "While the public earnestly hopes someone will stop the reckless Yoon administration, the Democratic Party seems to be focusing only on saving itself, not the people."

She also said, "Seeing President Yoon without reflection, the public calls it arrogance. Watching the president who protects pro-Yoon figures and cuts off non-Yoon figures to line up Yoon’s influence, people say he lacks the qualifications of a leader," emphasizing, "Ahead of the 14th anniversary of former President Roh Moo-hyun’s passing, we should not think it is too late but honestly reflect on ourselves again."

She concluded, "We just need to avoid acting like President Yoon. We should act like former President Roh."
