Dong-Eui Institute of Technology Technical Officer Training Project Group Selected as 'Outstanding Project Group'

The Technical Officer Training Project Group at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology was recently selected as an ‘Excellent’ project group in the 2022 Technical Officer Training Project performance evaluation announced by the Small and Medium Business Corporation.

The Technical Officer Training Project is a support program that fosters and supplies outstanding manufacturing engineering professionals through education linked with vocational high schools, junior colleges, and industries, enabling the manufacturing sector in Busan and the southeastern region to secure technological capabilities to respond to future industries and maintain competitiveness.

Since being selected as a new project group in 2011, Dong-Eui Institute of Technology has been conducting workforce training projects in cooperation with Gyeongnam Technical High School, Dong-Eui Technical High School, and Haeundae Technical High School.

Last year, 209 students participated in the project. The project group achieved an industrial engineer certification acquisition rate of 71.4% and an employment rate of 82% at partner companies through industry demand-tailored curricula such as on-site training linked with 128 partner companies including BMT, national technical qualification courses with process evaluation, and 1 team-1 project.

Additionally, the project group received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award for five consecutive years at the Small and Medium Business Technology Innovation Exhibition last year, and this year, Yang Won-Young received the award.

Graduates of the Technical Officer Training Project continue their studies while gaining company experience through contract departments in the bachelor’s programs at local universities such as Pukyong National University and Dong-A University, linked with the SME Workforce Training University Project. Some students who complete the bachelor’s program advance to contract departments in master’s programs at Pusan National University and Dong-A University, growing into core talents equipped with both practical skills and theory.

According to the results of this performance evaluation, the project group will receive approximately 380 million KRW in project funds for 2023, a 33% increase compared to last year.

Kim Guk-Yong, head of the project group, said, “We are training technical personnel specialized in mechanical design and computer-aided machining, which form the foundation of the 4th Industrial Revolution and the parts and materials industry,” adding, “We will strive harder to support the mutual growth of participating students and partner companies to resolve the local shortage of technical personnel.”
