Guidelines for Single-Use Item Restrictions in Stores
Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, will operate a single-use item monitoring team starting in May to provide guidance on regulations for single-use item usage within stores and to promote the reduction of single-use items.
According to the county on the 22nd, the single-use item monitoring team will check the regulated single-use items and compliance requirements for each store, and promote related policies to encourage voluntary participation from the stores.
The monitoring team, consisting of three members, plans to conduct inspections and promotional activities targeting food service businesses and general retail stores, which have high usage of single-use items, until October.
In particular, since the expansion of regulated single-use items on November 24th last year, a one-year voluntary participation guidance period has been in place. The goal is to actively promote the “Reduce Single-Use Items” campaign centered on the relevant stores to encourage voluntary participation.
A county official stated, “We expect that operating the monitoring team will play an important role in the stable establishment of single-use item usage regulations for each store and in encouraging voluntary participation in the Reduce Single-Use Items campaign, thereby creating a single-use item zero Haenam.”
