Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong's Pledge Registered: Facilities for Small and Medium Dogs Including Natural Grass Fenced Play Equipment and Drinking Fountains
The dog playground, a campaign promise of Jeong Gi-myeong, Mayor of Yeosu City, will open at 3 p.m. on the 23rd at Mipyeong Park.
The 'Pet Playground' was created within Mipyeong Park, covering approximately 130 pyeong (440㎡), with a project cost of 90 million KRW. It is equipped with natural grass, fences, playground equipment (stepping stones, seesaw), an owner rest area, a dog drinking fountain, and waste bag dispensers.
The operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., open on weekends as well, and closed during rainy weather.
The playground is available to all dog owners nationwide.
However, dogs must be registered pets, and only medium and small-sized dogs with a height (from paw to shoulder) of 40 cm or less are allowed entry.
Aggressive dogs and their mixes are not permitted.
Additionally, the following rules must be observed: ▲ Children under 13 years old or infants cannot enter alone ▲ Entry log must be filled out ▲ Dogs must wear identification tags ▲ No food allowed inside the playground.
Yeosu City plans to install CCTV within the playground to prevent accidents and disputes and minimize inconvenience to users.
Jeong Gi-myeong, Mayor of Yeosu City, said, “The dog playground is expected to play a significant role in creating a healthy pet culture where animals and people coexist,” adding, “Starting with Mipyeong Park, we will create additional dog playgrounds to expand spaces where dogs can run and play freely.”
