Gangjin-gun Holds Performance Report Meeting for 60 Major Projects of the 8th Elected Administration

Implementation Rate 34.2%, Driving Force Stands Out... Policy Review and Improvement Measures Discussed

On the 19th, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do, held a progress report meeting for the 60 major projects across five key areas of the 8th elected administration, chaired by County Governor Gang Jin-won, with 30 participants including heads of various departments at the county office's small conference room.

According to the county on the 22nd, the 60 major projects across five key areas of the 8th elected administration showed a 34.2% pledge fulfillment rate as of the end of last month, demonstrating Governor Gang Jin-won's strong driving force.

The report meeting reviewed the implementation status, issues, and countermeasures for each project, and discussions continued on ways to improve projects requiring interdepartmental cooperation through communication.

Projects that have been completed but continue to be promoted include △the nationwide largest Gangjin-gun childcare allowance payment △strengthening of community programs for living together, and 64 projects aimed at 100% achievement within the term, such as △fostering Gangjin Hanwoo as a national brand △leaping forward with Puso (FU-SO) Season 2 △establishing a special zone for oat rice.

Among the major pledges, the ‘Gangjin-gun Childcare Allowance Payment,’ which has become a nationwide issue, is a policy that pays 600,000 KRW per child monthly regardless of income level or number of children, up to 84 months (7 years old), making it the highest level nationwide and a model case for responding to regional extinction risks.

To attract 5 million tourists, the county is focusing on promoting ‘Gangjin, the City of Taste,’ developing distinctive menus made with unique local ingredients in collaboration with famous chefs and power YouTubers, and promoting through various online media tailored to the sensibilities of the MZ generation.

‘Strengthening communication through SNS’ is one of the core strategies of the 8th elected administration of Gangjin-gun to lead the 4th Industrial Revolution era, with official SNS communication channels opened and operated for each field closely related to the daily lives of residents.

Additionally, as a challenge to integrate technological revolution into county administration, a ‘4th Industrial Revolution Support Team’ was separately formed with the launch of the 8th elected administration.

This reflects Governor Gang Jin-won’s commitment to ‘communication administration,’ embodied in the county administration slogan ‘New Gangjin of Communication, Connection, and Creation.’

Along with this, the pledge to raise investment in the primary industry to 30% of the total budget was confirmed through the first supplementary budget proposal in March, securing 30% of the budget for agriculture, forestry, marine, and fisheries sectors, marking the first year of fulfilling promises.

During Governor Kang’s previous term in 2018, the primary industry budget, which accounted for about 32%, was significantly reduced, increasing difficulties for farmers, livestock farmers, fishery, and forestry workers; however, under the 8th elected administration, it has been restored to 30%.

Reflecting the county’s industrial structure where the primary industry accounts for more than 70%, the county plans to maintain the related budget at over 30% to increase the actual income of related workers.

Governor Gang Jin-won stated, “The core of all projects promised at the time of my inauguration last year is to build a Gangjin where jobs and population increase, and the improvement of residents’ income is a natural outcome when the goal is achieved,” adding, “We will push forward the 60 major projects without any negligence so that the planned and prepared projects can produce visible results that meet the expectations of the residents.”
