Gangdong-gu Operates Emergency Welfare Call for Crisis Households to Strengthen Discovery and Prompt Support
Accumulated 135 Various Welfare Consultations Conducted by the End of March This Year... Serving as an Integrated Welfare Consultation Window
Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Suhee) has been operating the ‘Emergency Welfare Call for Crisis Households’ since the end of September last year to strengthen the discovery of crisis households and provide prompt support.
The ‘Emergency Welfare Call for Crisis Households’ is a project that unifies the welfare consultation system for crisis households, providing integrated welfare consultation services with just one phone call to residents who hesitate to have in-person consultations or find it difficult to learn about support programs.
Consultations through the Emergency Welfare Call for Crisis Households are available via the Emergency Welfare Call or the 120 Dasan Call Center. The Emergency Welfare Call Consultation Center operates on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and during nights, holidays, and weekends, initial consultations are conducted through the 120 Dasan Call Center, followed by phone consultations the next day for those who request it.
As of the end of March this year, a total of 135 various welfare consultations have been conducted, discovering and supporting crisis households in welfare blind spots and serving as an integrated welfare consultation window.
On behalf of a coworker, inquiries about difficult circumstances were made, and the Emergency Welfare Call immediately coordinated with the local community service center and welfare investigation team to provide support for living and medical expenses.
Accordingly, the local community service center cooperated with the hospital administration department to promptly process the welfare benefit application so that the subject could be selected as a basic livelihood security recipient, enabling the subject to receive support.
Another subject requested help from the Emergency Welfare Call due to economic difficulties in covering medical expenses. As a result of the investigation, the subject was selected as a basic livelihood security recipient and became eligible to receive living, medical, and housing benefits.
The district plans to discover crisis households such as those experiencing reduced income due to illness or injury, or recently unemployed households, select them as emergency welfare recipients, provide support, and if necessary, designate them as integrated case management subjects to continuously manage them until the crisis situation is resolved.
Lee Sunyoung, Director of the Welfare Policy Division, said, “If anyone needs help, please request welfare consultation through the local community service center or the welfare call,” and added, “The district will continue to do its best to discover and support welfare blind spots.”
