Daedong Hospital set up a booth at the Pukyong National University stadium and conducted body composition tests for citizens participating in the walking event.

Even if the body mass index (BMI) calculated from height and weight is the same, muscle mass, body fat, and body water inside the body can vary from person to person. Therefore, participants were able to check their individual health status using the body composition analyzer.

Based on the body composition test results, if a person has a high amount of fat, it is recommended to engage in aerobic exercises such as running, cycling, or swimming while reducing foods high in fat. If muscle mass is low, it is advisable to increase protein intake and perform anaerobic exercises such as weight training to establish a specific health plan.

Hwang Hye-rim, head of the Comprehensive Health Screening Center at Daedong Hospital, said, “Walking exercise, which anyone can do without special equipment or cost, is beneficial to our body by preventing cardiovascular diseases, relieving stress, enhancing immune function, and eliminating waste products from the body.”

She added, “In our busy daily lives, people tend to walk less than expected, so I hope this event allowed participants to experience the benefits of walking exercise even a little.”

Daedong Hospital actively participates in various representative festivals in Busan to communicate directly with local residents and provide diverse health information on-site.
