Renault Korea Motors announced on the 22nd that it has signed a public-private-academic cooperation agreement (MOU) with Busan City, the Busan Automotive Parts Industry Cooperative, the Council of Industry-Academia Cooperation Directors of Universities in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions, and Busan Technopark at the Busan Station Eurasia Platform. The agreement was established to promote the creation of the ‘Busan Eco Cluster Center’ within the Renault Korea Busan plant and to foster the future car industry ecosystem in Busan.
The signing ceremony was attended and signed by St?phane Deblaise, President of Renault Korea; Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan; Oh Rin-tae, Chairman of the Busan Automotive Parts Industry Cooperative; Lee Im-geon, Chairman of the Council of Industry-Academia Cooperation Directors of Universities in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions; and Kim Hyung-gyun, President of Busan Technopark.
Renault Korea will carry out collaborative projects with local universities, research institutes, and automotive parts companies, including the establishment of the Eco Cluster Center within the Busan plant. Efforts will also be made to promote regional coexistence and recruit local talent.
Busan City will strive to build a future car ecosystem by providing various administrative supports necessary for nurturing talent and expanding related research and development in the future car industry. The Busan Automotive Parts Industry Cooperative will work to establish a collaborative complex for the future car industry ecosystem and ensure smooth parts supply. The Council of Industry-Academia Cooperation Directors of Universities in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions will introduce customized curricula and support the smooth securing of manpower in the future car industry through industry-academia cooperation programs. Busan Technopark plans to build a foundation for nurturing talent and research and development cooperation in the future car industry through the operation of the Eco Cluster Center.
St?phane Deblaise, President of Renault Korea, said, “This cooperation agreement is a good example of public-private-academic collaboration to build Busan’s future car industry ecosystem. The Eco Cluster Center will contribute to the successful transition of Busan’s local automotive parts companies and the region’s future eco-friendly car industry. We also look forward to future government-level follow-up support measures related to the future eco-friendly car industry.”
He added, “As a representative company of Busan, Renault Korea will actively promote the bid for the 2030 World Expo in Busan and continue to take a leading role in the development of Busan’s future car industry.”
