"‘You Look Like a Woman’ - 80s Performing Arts Veteran Accused of Sexual Assault Against 20s Student"

Dismissed Following School Disciplinary Committee Decision

An octogenarian veteran in the performing arts, who was serving as a professor at an arts university in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, has been booked by the police on charges of multiple sexual misconduct offenses against a female student in her 20s working as a work-study student. He has currently been dismissed by the school's disciplinary committee.

Mr. A is known as a veteran in the performing arts and was affiliated with a theater troupe at the university, overseeing the stage, and also served as a special appointment professor for one year.

According to MBC on the 23rd, the Ansan Danwon Police Station in Gyeonggi announced on the 17th that they are investigating Mr. A, an octogenarian male, on charges including quasi-rape.

Mr. A is accused of repeatedly kissing and committing quasi-rape against a female student in her 20s, Ms. A, who was working as a work-study student in the university's archival research lab around 1 p.m. on the 18th of last month.

In a transcript released by MBC, Mr. A is heard making sexually humiliating remarks to Ms. B such as, "Lean on my neck," "Think of it as someone you love doing this," and "You're wearing a lot of clothes. Why are you wearing so many?"

Ms. B expressed refusal by saying, "Please don't," and "I don't want this," but Mr. A touched her body, saying, "You look like a woman and you're so pretty. You don't just look like a student."

Ms. B reported Mr. A to the school authorities and the police the day after the incident.

The next day, the school investigated the facts and gave Mr. A an opportunity to explain himself over the phone.

When Mr. A admitted to the sexual misconduct during the explanation opportunity, the school convened a disciplinary committee and dismissed him from his contract position on the 24th of the same month. It is also reported that his access to the campus has been restricted.

The police plan to expand the investigation based on Ms. B's testimony. It is known that she has been receiving psychological treatment due to the shock from this incident. Ms. B was interviewed by the police as a victim last week.

The police booked Mr. A on charges including quasi-rape and plan to expand the investigation based on Ms. B's statement that the sexual violence had been ongoing since the end of last year and had been escalating in severity.
