Hankook Tire Launches High-Performance Tires Exclusively for Electric Vehicles in Korea

Hankook Tire & Technology announced on the 22nd that it has launched the Evo and Evo SUV, performance products of the electric vehicle-exclusive brand ION, in the domestic market.

High-performance electric vehicles require dedicated tires as their instantaneous output surpasses that of internal combustion engines. According to the company, these products are equipped with ION Performance Technology, offering excellent grip, handling, and braking performance, while producing low noise and providing good energy efficiency and mileage.

To respond to powerful instantaneous output and battery weight, the ‘EV Shape Technology’ was applied, improving cornering stiffness by up to 10%. Tire adjustment stability was also enhanced to enable stable handling at high speeds.

In a tire test conducted last April by ‘Auto Bild,’ one of Europe’s largest automotive magazines, the tires received high evaluations in four categories: wet surface braking, dry surface braking, rolling resistance, and handling, securing first place.

The products also won the main awards in the product category at the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award, two of the world’s top three design awards.

Last year, the company introduced four products to the domestic market, including the ION Evo AS, an all-season tire exclusively for electric vehicles, and the ION iCept winter tire. With the launch of the Evo, the company has now completed its full lineup.
