Raising Safety Awareness... Held Annually Since 2018
Ranked 1st in the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Industrial Safety Golden Bell' Contest

Taekwang Group's textile and petrochemical affiliates, Taekwang Industrial and Daehan Chemical Fiber, announced on the 22nd that they held the '2023 Industrial Safety Challenge Golden Bell' event on the 19th at the welfare center inside the Ulsan factory to compete in safety and health knowledge.

About 400 employees from the Petrochemical Production Headquarters and Advanced Materials Production Headquarters of Taekwang Industrial and Daehan Chemical Fiber, as well as partner companies, attended this event. The employees solved questions related to safety laws and internal safety regulations in the form of a 'Golden Bell' quiz. Through various types of questions such as true/false quizzes, multiple-choice questions, subjective quizzes, second-chance rounds, and audience quizzes, participants naturally acquired safety knowledge in a pleasant atmosphere.

Taekwang Industrial awarded certificates and prize money to the top three winners of the competition and plans to reflect additional points in the year-end evaluation of outstanding safety departments. Employees who participated in the audience quiz also received small gift certificates.

Taekwang Industrial regards safety and health management as core values and is fostering a safety culture by strengthening education on safety and health-related laws and knowledge to achieve a zero-accident, zero-incident, and zero-defect workplace. To enhance safety capabilities and awareness and to promote win-win cooperation activities with partner companies, this event has been held since 2018. In 2021, they participated in the '7th Industrial Safety Golden Bell' hosted by the Ulsan Labor Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor for companies in the Ulsan area and won first place.

Taekwang Industrial has continuously strengthened safety and environmental measures as a key keyword for enhancing ESG management. Since 2021, they have undertaken inspections of aging and hazardous equipment and improved their ability to implement Process Safety Management (PSM). In addition to the safety and environment teams operated at each factory, they established a head office safety and health team to respond to the Serious Accident Punishment Act. Last year, they identified unreasonable issues in safety management operations, reorganized the system, and established detailed improvement plans.

As a result of these efforts, in March of this year, all factories including Ulsan Petrochemical Plants 1, 2, and 3, Ulsan Chemical Fiber Plant, and Busan Cotton Spinning Plant received ISO 45001 certification. ISO 45001, certified by the British Standards Institution (BSI), is an international standard for occupational health and safety management systems that provides practical solutions for worker safety.

A Taekwang Industrial official said, “We are strengthening education on safety-related laws and knowledge further in the spirit of win-win cooperation with partner companies,” adding, “We will do our best to raise the safety culture not only at Taekwang Industrial but also at partner companies to realize factories free of safety accidents.”
