High-Level Meetings in Estonia, Lithuania, Finland from 22nd to 26th
Discussions on Bio, Nuclear Power, Secondary Batteries, and EU Trade Issues
The government is dispatching an economic delegation to the three Baltic states to discuss cooperation plans on new industries such as bio and nuclear power, as well as trade issues.
On the 22nd, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it will send an economic delegation led by Jeong Dae-jin, Deputy Minister for Trade of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, to the three Baltic states of Estonia, Lithuania, and Finland. The delegation includes participants from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL), SK, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Celltrion, Hanwha Aerospace, and Doosan Mobility Innovation.
Deputy Minister Jeong will meet with Sandra Sarap, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia, on the 22nd; Rolandas Krisciunas, Senior Deputy Chief of Staff of the Lithuanian Prime Minister’s Office, Karolis Zemaitis, Deputy Minister of Economic Innovation of Lithuania, and Egidijus Meilunas, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, on the 23rd. On the 25th, he will meet Petri Peltonen, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland, and on the 26th, Nina Vaskunlahti, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland.
Through these meetings, Deputy Minister Jeong will discuss ▲ industrial cooperation in secondary batteries, bio, nuclear power, etc., ▲ cooperation on European Union (EU) trade issues, ▲ cooperation in digital and advanced technologies, and ▲ expansion of trade and investment, seeking ways to enhance economic cooperation with each country.
Additionally, the economic delegation plans to hold business roundtables in both Estonia and Finland and sign a bilateral cooperation agreement (MOU) on investment promotion between KOTRA and the Estonian Business Authority. In Finland, a ceremony will be held to open the KCL Finland branch for testing and evaluation of electric vehicle batteries in Europe. An official from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy stated, "We plan to support domestic automakers and secondary battery industries locally and establish a foothold for entry into the European market in the field of secondary battery testing and evaluation."
