Gyeonggi-do Conducts Emergency Inspections at Railway Construction Sites Ahead of Monsoon Season

Gyeonggi Province is set to conduct safety inspections at railway construction sites ahead of the rainy season.

On the 22nd, Gyeonggi Province announced that from the 23rd to the 30th, it will carry out safety management inspections at railway construction sites across the province in preparation for the rainy season.

The inspection targets include a total of seven railway construction sites, such as the Byeollae Line sections 3, 4, 5, and 6, and the Dobongsan~Okjeong Line sections 1, 2, and 3, all directly managed by the province.

For this inspection, Gyeonggi Province has formed seven joint inspection teams consisting of the Construction Project Management Group, contractors, and technical support engineers.

The main inspection items are ▲ preparation and management status of safety management plans ▲ identification of flood risk factors and flood prevention measures ▲ appropriateness of electrical facility installations vulnerable to flooding and electric shock ▲ erosion of excavation slopes ▲ appropriateness of temporary facility installations against strong winds, among others.

Minor issues found during the inspection will be addressed immediately, while medium-term issues are planned to be resolved by June, before the arrival of the heavy rain period.

Additionally, Gyeonggi Province plans to actively respond to site safety management by establishing an emergency work system and developing step-by-step response plans for weather alerts against heavy rain, typhoons, and heatwaves.

Gu Ja-gun, Director of the Railway Construction Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Due to climate and environmental changes, heavy rainfall during the rainy season has been increasing recently. Through this rainy season inspection, we will proactively check and prepare for risk factors such as excavation slope collapses and facility overturns to prevent any safety accidents."
