Seogangseok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, Participates by Nomination of Jinju Mayor… Donates to 3 Regions
Next Donors Nominated: Yuk Donghan, Mayor of Chuncheon, and Jeong Munheon, Mayor of Jongno-gu
Seogangseok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, joined the ‘Hometown Love Donation Relay Certification Challenge’ (hereafter referred to as the Challenge) on the 19th.
This Challenge was initiated in January by National Assembly member Han Byungdo, who was the main proposer of the Hometown Love Donation Act, and various local government heads and celebrities nationwide are participating. The method involves donating hometown love funds, certifying with a photo, and then nominating the next donor.
Mayor Seogangseok joined the Challenge upon nomination by Jo Gyuil, Mayor of Jinju. Mayor Seo donated to Jinju City in Gyeongnam, Chuncheon City in Gangwon, and his hometown Jongno-gu in Seoul, and nominated Yuk Donghan, Mayor of Chuncheon, and Jeong Munheon, Mayor of Jongno-gu, as the next donors.
The Hometown Love Donation System is a newly implemented system as of January 1 this year. Individuals can donate to local governments other than their registered residence, and local governments use the donation funds to create hometown love funds to support vulnerable groups, youth support, and improve residents’ welfare.
Anyone can donate through the Hometown Love e-um website and Nonghyup bank counters, with individuals able to donate up to 5 million KRW annually. Donors can receive return gifts such as local specialties within 30% of the donation amount.
The district provides mobile Songpa Love gift certificates as return gifts to donors and plans to create and offer unique return gifts exclusive to Songpa in the future.
Seogangseok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “I am very pleased to participate in fostering a healthy donation culture,” and added, “I hope this Challenge will help the Hometown Love Donation System to be successfully established.”
