Dongdaemun-gu Family Center Hosts the 15th ‘World Family Festival’ on the 21st to Celebrate Family Month and World Multicultural Day

Diverse Events Including Celebration Performances, Multicultural Exhibitions, Crafts, Play Experiences, and World Food Market



Successful Completion of Dongdaemun-gu World Family Festival

The Dongdaemun-gu Family Center successfully concluded the ‘World Family Festival’ held on the 21st in celebration of Family Month and World Multicultural Day (May 20).


Marking its 15th year, the ‘World Family Festival’ featured a rich program full of attractions and activities such as celebration performances, multicultural exhibitions, crafts, play experiences, a world food market, and a flea market, receiving enthusiastic responses from participants.


Performances including Hawaiian hula dance, African djembe drum shows, and a Korean Taekwondo demonstration by the Taerang Association captivated the visitors’ eyes and ears, while migrant resident Ms. Airana delivered a touching story on the theme of ‘Most Memorable Moments in Korea,’ deeply moving the audience.


Additionally, markets where local residents participated as sellers, such as the ‘World Food Market,’ ‘Happiness Sharing Flea Market,’ and ‘Single-Person Household Bread Market,’ attracted much popularity. The event also featured an ‘Environmental Campaign Booth’ and a ‘Safety Education Booth,’ earning praise as a ‘good festival’ that considers safety and the environment.

Attending the event, Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “We understand the difficulties faced by multicultural families better than anyone else, and I feel we need to be more considerate and attentive to help multicultural families settle well in our society. A good society is one that embraces diversity. Together with you, we will move toward a future of ‘Dongdaemun-gu, an advanced society coexisting in harmony.’”
