Yeungjin College's Department of Sports Management, the first in Korea to launch a specialized program in Park Golf, has been renamed the Department of Park Golf Management and is focusing even more on training upgraded park golf experts.
The Department of Park Golf Management at this college will open a 9-hole park golf course exclusively for enrolled students this August on the Global Campus of Yeungjin College in Jicheon-myeon, Chilgok-gun, Gyeongbuk.
The department also showcases its skills by having four first-year and four second-year students participate in the largest park golf tournaments in the country.
The 4th Phoenix Cup National Park Golf Tournament, held from the 18th to the 20th at Daesan Dream Park Golf Course in Changwon, Gyeongnam, attracts about 2,000 park golfers nationwide. Yeungjin College’s Department of Park Golf Management, as a partner company and the host of this tournament, was invited by Korea Park Golf Phoenix to have students participate in the exhibition matches.
First-year student Lee Taehwa (61) said, “I enjoyed golf for a long time but fell in love with the charm of park golf and enrolled in Yeungjin College’s Department of Park Golf Management. Participating in the tournament made me realize the growing popularity of park golf even more, and I plan to compete as an official player in the next tournament to bring honor to my department.”
The Department of Park Golf Management offers classes three days a week, with one day dedicated to park golf practice and two days focused on understanding the park golf-related industry and business, including basics of management, marketing, accounting, real estate, and financial technology.
Recently, at the college’s International Exchange Center’s “Foreign Language Presentation Contest,” Im Cheolhong (1st year, 47) from this department participated, and his classmates held a large-scale cheering event, resulting in him winning the runner-up prize.
Student Park Kyungsook (1st year, 58) proudly said, “Our department is a vibrant community where middle-aged and older students ranging from their 40s to 70s, from high school graduates to doctorate holders, come together and enjoy a lively college life despite being lifelong learners.”
Jin Seok Cho, head of Yeungjin College’s Department of Park Golf Management, emphasized, “We plan to provide more opportunities so that lifelong learners can fully enjoy the campus. Since these students are challenging a new path in life, we will do our best to educate and support them.”
