Through this agreement, Samjin Pharmaceutical will discover and optimize candidate substances for targets selected by Daehwa Pharmaceutical based on the AI new drug development capabilities of its in silico (virtual experiment) team and its expertise in developing small molecule compounds. Daehwa Pharmaceutical will conduct efficacy and toxicity tests on the candidate substances, and the intellectual property rights for the resulting new drug candidates will be jointly owned by both companies.

Lee Soo-min, Head of Research Center at Samjin Pharmaceutical, said, "Samjin Pharmaceutical has extensive experience and know-how in manufacturing and developing antithrombotic agents, having launched the country's first high-dose antithrombotic agent 'Pleris.' Based on our R&D foundation in the circulatory system field, we will develop a superior new drug with improved efficacy and reduced side effects compared to existing antithrombotic agents."

Lee Myung-chul, Head of Research and Development at Daehwa Pharmaceutical, also stated, "This joint research is the first collaborative new drug development effort between pharmaceutical companies in Korea. We expect that through collaboration with Samjin Pharmaceutical, which has passion and investment in new drug development and expertise in small molecule compound development, the research and development infrastructure of both companies will serve as a stepping stone for entry into the global market."
