The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency will implement an organizational restructuring and personnel changes on the 24th to proactively respond to mega-trend changes such as digital transformation, carbon neutrality, and global value chain upheavals, reflecting the policy direction of the 8th term of the provincial government.
First, through the organizational restructuring, the agency will expand from '1 office, 7 headquarters, 33 departments' to '1 office, 7 headquarters, 38 departments.'
Regarding the restructuring details, to fulfill the core pledges of the 8th term, a 'G-INVEST Promotion Team' will be newly established directly under the director. The team will support Governor Kim Dong-yeon's efforts to attract 100 trillion won in investments and manage the creation of a 'G-Fund' worth about 1 trillion won.
Additionally, a 'Semiconductor Enterprise Comprehensive Support Center' will be established to exclusively handle on-site difficulties and provide one-stop comprehensive consultation services for semiconductor materials, parts, equipment, and fabless (design-specialized) companies.
In particular, to support Governor Kim Dong-yeon's implementation of public institution RE100 and the spread of ESG among small and medium enterprises, an 'ESG Team' will be created. Also, an 'Energy New Industry Team' will be established to focus on fostering renewable energy industries such as hydrogen, enhancing climate crisis response capabilities, practicing carbon neutrality, and creating a sustainable growth foundation for small and medium venture companies.
The existing 4th Industrial Headquarters will be renamed the 'New Industry Headquarters,' under which industry-specific teams such as the AI Industry Team, Energy New Industry Team, and Digital Manufacturing Innovation Team will be organized.
Especially, the Digital Manufacturing Innovation Team will promote new industrialization through the digitalization of Gyeonggi-do’s representative traditional manufacturing industries such as textiles, furniture, and root industries.
The Bio Center will be reorganized into the 'Bio Industry Headquarters,' significantly strengthening the acceleration of bio ventures and startups as well as support functions for various bio industries.
The Cluster Innovation Headquarters will be renamed the 'Technovalley Innovation Headquarters,' emphasizing Gyeonggi-do’s innovation cluster brand, Technovalley. The headquarters will strengthen dedicated management and revitalization functions for Suwon Gwanggyo and Seongnam’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Pangyo Technovalley, tasked with developing Gwanggyo and Pangyo Technovalley into world-class innovation clusters.
To strengthen demand-driven support, the agency will reorganize into the Startup Headquarters, Enterprise Growth Headquarters, and Export Support Headquarters, establishing a full-cycle support system from 'startup → commercialization → export.'
Along with this organizational restructuring, the agency will also carry out personnel changes aligned with three directions: ▲performance-based appointments ▲expansion of female talent ▲revitalization of organizational atmosphere.
First, nine young talents with capabilities, including outstanding Grade 4 team leaders, will be boldly appointed to new positions. In addition, excellent female talents will be discovered to significantly increase the relatively small number of female managers. Furthermore, to revitalize the organization and strengthen expertise, rotation transfers of headquarters chiefs will be promoted.
Kang Sung-cheon, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, emphasized, "We have reorganized the agency to actively respond to the policy direction of the 8th term and to support the innovative growth of Gyeonggi-do companies. Through this, we will do our best to create a Gyeonggi-do full of growth opportunities."
Meanwhile, the agency will hold a public report meeting for residents on June 1 to announce the new vision and strategy.
