Daegu's representative automobile industry festival, the '2023 Daegu Street Motor Festival,' will be held from the 20th to the 21st at the Automobile Parts Alley in Namsan-dong, Jung-gu, Daegu.
Marking its 12th year, the Daegu Street Motor Festival is hosted by the 'Namsan-dong Automobile Alley Shopping District Merchants Association' and sponsored by Daegu City and Jung-gu. Building on the successful outcomes of previous events, it is expected to provide enjoyment to citizens.
This year’s event, themed 'Cars as Friends in Everyday Life,' will feature exhibitions of supercars and tuned cars, along with an off-road zone where vehicles equipped with camping cars and rooftop tents will be displayed and available for experience, offering attractions suitable for family visitors in celebration of Family Month in May.
The cars for the festival will be exhibited starting at 10 a.m. on the 20th, followed by an opening ceremony at 11 a.m., which will include congratulatory performances, stage events, and a racing model photo time.
Additionally, various events such as 'SNS Spot the Difference' and 'Treasure Hunt' will be held for participating citizens, providing automobile maintenance items like air conditioner filters, engine oil, and antifreeze. The festival will also introduce nearby tourist attractions and conduct traffic safety education.
The Automobile Parts Alley in Namsan-dong stretches 550 meters from Myeongnyun Samgeori to Myeongdeok-ro and plays a central role in the local automobile tuning service industry. Since around 1968, the area around Myeongdeok Intersection began to develop with used automobile parts shops, parts sales, and automobile repairs, forming the current shopping district.
Currently, about 60 businesses sell tires, audio equipment, air conditioners, tinting, and other automobile parts, as well as provide automobile repair services, making it a place where tuning and maintenance can be done all at once.
Choi Un-baek, Director of the Future Innovation Growth Office of Daegu City, said, “We hope that the hosting of the Daegu Street Motor Festival will further revitalize the Namsan-dong Automobile Parts Alley shopping district and serve as an opportunity for the development of the tuning industry.”
