Hyundai Movex Builds Automated Warehouse System at Sartorius Songdo Campus

Hyundai Movex announced on the 18th that it has secured the contract for the Sartorius Songdo Campus automated warehouse system.

Founded in Germany in 1870, Sartorius is a global leading company in raw materials and equipment for the pharmaceutical and bio industries. To expand its business in Korea, it began construction in January of the Songdo Campus, which includes research and education facilities as well as production facilities for pharmaceutical and bio materials, parts, and equipment.

Hyundai Movex recently signed a supply contract with Sartorius Korea Operations (Sartorius Korea branch) for the automated warehouse system at the Songdo Campus. They plan to establish the automated warehouse system (AS/RS) including stacker cranes, mini roads, and RTVs, along with advanced distribution systems (DAS) and control systems (WCS) by 2025.

This automated warehouse features a picking system that bundles the materials and parts needed for each production line into one, improving production efficiency, and maximizes safety with a design that complies with the highest disaster and fire international standards NFPA and FMDS.

During the contract process, Hyundai Movex was recognized for its capability to build automated warehouses through rigorous technical verification and on-site inspections. Given Sartorius’s extensive global business bases, it is expected that cooperation between the two companies will expand based on this foundation.

Hyundai Movex is gaining attention as a strong player in the pharmaceutical and bio smart logistics solutions business. Based on extensive experience and know-how, it is gradually expanding its business to emerging companies.

Since 2019, it has built more than 20 automated warehouses exclusively for the pharmaceutical and bio sectors. Including expansion and maintenance projects, the total exceeds 150 cases. It serves a diverse range of clients from small and medium pharmaceutical companies to large-scale bio companies. Last year, it also carried out an automated warehouse project for a major domestic bio company within the Songdo Bio Cluster.

Hyundai Movex possesses total smart logistics solutions. Additionally, it incorporates high-level warehouse environment technologies such as temperature and humidity control and cleanroom standards, showing particular strengths in the pharmaceutical and bio industries. Hyundai Movex stated, “We will successfully carry out core projects for global leading pharmaceutical and bio companies to create opportunities for overseas expansion,” and added, “While focusing on pioneering global markets and expanding business areas, we are continuing meaningful achievements, including entering the secondary battery process logistics business for the first time through recent large-scale orders.”
