Wemade Files Lawsuit Against Wi Jeong-hyun, Chairman of Game Society, Over 'Wemix Lobby Rumors'

Accused of Defamation Filed Complaint with Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency
"Unethical Image Imposed on Legitimate Business Activities"

Wemade has filed a lawsuit against the Korea Game Society and its president, Wi Jeong-hyun, who raised allegations of legislative lobbying related to Congressman Kim Nam-guk, who holds the cryptocurrency WEMIX.

On the 17th, Wemade stated, "We have filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against the Korea Game Society and President Wi Jeong-hyun for defamation by spreading false information."

Wemade claimed, "The Korea Game Society and President Wi Jeong-hyun (Professor of Business Administration at Chung-Ang University) have been tarnishing Wemade's legitimate corporate activities with an immoral image through unverified suspicions, rumors, speculations, and media interviews."

Earlier, the Korea Game Society mentioned lobbying allegations, saying, "There have been rampant rumors for several years that P2E (Play to Earn) companies are lobbying the National Assembly," and argued that a full investigation of lawmakers and their aides by relevant agencies is necessary.

Wemade explained, "In particular, by using provocative terms such as 'WEMIX incident' and 'WEMIX profit community' as if they were facts in statements, and by claiming in media articles and interviews that Wemade illegally lobbied the National Assembly, the company's image has been severely damaged."

Wemade added, "We are also considering filing a civil lawsuit and will hold accountable those responsible for the enormous damages suffered by Wemade shareholders, the WEMIX community, and investors," and "We will respond strongly with a zero-tolerance policy against malicious rumors and groundless speculation."

President Wi has opposed the domestic gaming industry's 'P2E (Play to Earn) game legalization theory.' P2E games are games that incorporate blockchain technology, allowing players to earn cryptocurrencies or non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as rewards.

On the same day, President Wi appeared on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' and said, "A (prosecutorial) search and seizure of Wemade or the coin issuer is necessary."

Furthermore, President Wi stated, "We have been openly hearing stories that P2E companies and related organizations have lobbied," and "In particular, the National Assembly was targeted, and during the presidential election, some invisible hand was ultimately at work in the camps of both candidates."
