‘Forest Exploration with Professional Forest Interpreters’ Gangdong-gu Forest Interpretation Program Popular
‘Forest Interpretation Program’ Available for All Ages, Operated Regularly from Monday to Saturday Until November
Free Access to Various Forest Experience Programs While Listening to Forest Interpreter’s Commentary
Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Suhee) operates a forest interpretation program led by professional forest interpreters along the Gangdong Greenway trail, which stretches from Iljasan to Godeoksan.
Gangdong-gu is rich in ecological resources, with a green space ratio reaching 44%, offering many forest trails within the nearby urban area without the need to travel far. These trails provide a great resting place for residents tired from daily life.
This program allows participants to listen to professional forest interpreters while enjoying various forest experience activities, providing children and adults who usually have limited opportunities to connect with nature in the city a chance to understand forest ecosystems and become more familiar with the forest.
There is also a program for youth to experience forest-related careers. It includes career programs such as forest resource monitoring and creating ecological maps, along with explanations about understanding carbon neutrality and environmental conservation activities, raising awareness of the importance of our forests and environmental protection.
Customized healing and wellness programs are available for specific groups such as people with disabilities, seniors, and vulnerable populations. These programs are linked with the forest to manage health and help recover from daily stress, and are segmented to be accessible to all residents.
The forest interpretation program operates regularly from Monday to Saturday until November this year, and participation is free of charge. Applications can be made through the Seoul Public Service Reservation website or by on-site registration.
