Im Tae-hee, Superintendent of Education, "Gyeonggi-do Will Set the National Standard for Multicultural Education in Korea"

Im Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, is speaking about the direction of Gyeonggi education at the 'Gyeonggi Multicultural Education Regional Linkage Council' held on the 16th at Seoul National University Siheung Campus.

Lim Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, emphasized on the 16th that Gyeonggi Province should be a leader in multicultural education and that good examples should be created together in cooperation with local communities for students from multicultural families to grow into future talents.

Superintendent Lim attended the 'Gyeonggi Province Multicultural Education Regional Linkage Council' held at Seoul National University Siheung Campus in the afternoon and stated, "Gyeonggi Province is a place where the cultural characteristics of various regions blend together, creating a unique identity for Gyeonggi Province, which means it has great inclusiveness. Supporting multicultural students to learn and live happily is our responsibility and the common goal of everyone gathered here."

He continued, "We need to foster students' abilities to do what they want and like, and provide inclusive education and hopeful education so that customized career and vocational education can be realized. To achieve this, the direction of multicultural education policies must change in the future, and institutional improvements and a virtuous cycle of policies are necessary."

In particular, he said, "When it comes to multicultural education, Gyeonggi Province can become the standard for South Korea and a global model of education. If Gyeonggi Provincial Government, the Office of Education, city and county offices, and education support offices work together on the necessary physical and human resources and policy system improvements for multicultural education, nothing will be impossible."

The council was organized to communicate with local governments and share the direction of multicultural education in Gyeonggi Province and various field support measures.

During the council, in-depth discussions were held on ▲multicultural education school field cases ▲growth stories of students from multicultural families ▲sharing of regional multicultural education cases ▲and regional linkage multicultural education support measures.

Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Office of Education plans to continuously support multicultural education policies by organizing a network by region in cooperation with the Gyeonggi Provincial Government and local governments.
