Daejeon School Irregular Workers Union Strike... "Demands Include Work During Vacation"

The Daejeon branch of the National School Irregular Workers' Union (hereinafter the Union) is going on strike. The demands for work during school vacations and other issues led to the strike action.

On the 16th, the Union announced that it would begin a partial strike with 20 union officials participating, followed by a rotating strike involving 70 to 80 union members starting from the 22nd.

At a rally held the previous day, the Union demanded an extension of the number of working days for irregular workers during school vacations and corresponding wage payments.

They also urged improvements in meal menus and staffing standards to ensure the health rights of cafeteria workers.

On the 16th, the Union confronted Superintendent Seol Dong-ho, who was on his way to work, demanding dialogue.

Meanwhile, in response to the Union's strike, the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education is operating a situation room to monitor conditions related to meals and childcare services.
