Nursing Community Immediately Opposes Veto of the 'Nursing Act'... "Must Be Punished"

President Yoon Suk-yeol's exercise of the veto power on the Nursing Act at the Cabinet meeting on the 16th immediately sparked backlash from the nursing community, which decided to discuss collective action.

The Korean Nurses Association held a press conference in front of the Presidential Office in Yongsan, Seoul, right after the Cabinet meeting, condemning President Yoon's veto. Kim Young-kyung, president of the association, stated, "We will surely punish the unjust politicians and bureaucrats who destroyed the Nursing Act through the activities of the general election planning team," emphasizing, "We will not stop the struggle to enact the Nursing Act."

The association plans to hold a representatives' meeting to discuss the methods and intensity of collective action. Once the specific direction for collective action is decided, it will be implemented immediately starting tomorrow. Previously, in a survey conducted among all members of the association, 98.6% (103,743 out of 105,191 participants) responded that "active collective action is necessary."

Along with the question of whether to engage in active collective action, opinions were also surveyed regarding participation in the nurse license return campaign and joining the 'Clean Politics Campaign,' which involves nurses joining one political party of their choice. 64.1% (67,408) expressed willingness to participate in the nurse license return campaign, and 79.6% (83,772) indicated their intention to join the 'Clean Politics Campaign.'
