3 Dead in Shooting in New Mexico, USA... "Gun Control Must Be Strengthened"

On the 15th (local time), a shooting occurred in Farmington, a city in northwestern New Mexico, USA, resulting in at least three deaths and multiple injuries, including two police officers.

The Farmington Police Department in New Mexico stated on Facebook that "police responded to investigate a shooting incident that occurred in Farmington" and that "there are multiple civilian casualties, including at least three fatalities."

The police reported, "One officer from the Farmington Police Department and one from the New Mexico State Police were shot," adding, "Both officers are currently receiving treatment at the hospital and are in stable condition."

The shooting suspect was shot dead at the scene, and the suspect's identity has not yet been determined.

According to foreign media, the shooting took place at 11 a.m. at Brookside Park in Farmington. Farmington is one of the major cities in New Mexico, with a population of about 50,000.

Meanwhile, shootings have been occurring continuously across the United States. This month alone, several people, including a Korean American family, were killed in a mass shooting in Texas, and multiple fatalities occurred in a shooting incident near a city close to the Arizona border.

In response, U.S. President Joe Biden reiterated his call for stronger gun control measures in a USA Today op-ed on the 14th. President Biden emphasized, "In the year since the Buffalo tragedy, there have been over 650 mass shootings and more than 40,000 deaths due to gun violence in the United States. We must do more."
