M-Pack Plus Co., Ltd. (CEO Son Kwang-oh), a manufacturer of sports leisure products such as dry bags and smartphone waterproof pouches, announced that it has completed factory expansion and is increasing production due to rising domestic and international demand for body cooling products to prevent heatwaves and heat-related illnesses, including the Ice Ring (neck cooling tube), Ice Vest, Head Cooling Pad, and related product Ice Ring cooling pouches.
In particular, the Ice Ring has seen explosive sales growth as its user base has expanded from adults to children due to global warming, and demand has spread from general consumers to safety and health sectors and industrial sites. Furthermore, it has created new demand by replacing traditional cool scarves made of fabric.
The Ice Ring is a product worn around the neck that helps restore elevated body temperature to normal. It cools below 18 degrees Celsius, minimizing condensation for a comfortable fit, does not absorb sweat for cleanliness, is not as cold as ice to prevent cold burns, cools quickly (e.g., 15 minutes in ice water), and can be used repeatedly almost indefinitely.
The 2023 model Ice Ring has applied seamless technology to both basic and jumbo sizes, dramatically improving design and comfort. Alongside this, to enhance the Ice Ring brand image, M-Pack Plus signed an exclusive model contract with former national badminton player Lee Yong-dae, known as the "Wink Boy," and released his photo shoot on their website, official online mall, and social media channels.
The Ice Vest (Cool Vest), scheduled for release in June 2023, was developed reflecting domestic and international consumer demands. It can be used as an ice vest during heatwaves and as a regular vest at other times, featuring a design where the vest and PCM cooling packs are made separately. The two types of cooling packs, which cool below 18 or 28 degrees Celsius, are filled with special phase change materials (PCM) and can be inserted into front and back pockets of the vest for use.
The cooling packs incorporate patented technology that controls the temperature difference between the upper and lower parts of the refrigerant through convection balance technology, extending usage time and evenly distributing coolness across the body to regulate body temperature. Cooling time is about 20 minutes in ice water, and the cooling effect lasts approximately 180 minutes at an ambient temperature of 35 degrees Celsius. Minimization of condensation provides a comfortable wearing experience. The vest features a simple design and uses high-performance premium fabrics.
The Head Cooling Pad (Ice Cell) is worn inside helmets or hats to reduce scalp heat, preventing hair loss and restoring body functions. Patents and designs have been filed in Korea and Japan, with development completed in April 2023 and planned release in June.
The Ice Cell contains a special refrigerant that automatically cools below 18 or 28 degrees Celsius. Its patented scalp adhesion technology ensures effective cooling without condensation, providing a comfortable fit. It cools quickly (about 1 minute 30 seconds in ice water, about 4 minutes in cold water) and can be used repeatedly almost indefinitely, making it useful for scalp cooling care, helmet and hat wearers, outdoor workers, and leisure activities.
The cooling pouch is designed to keep the cooled Ice Rings chilled for extended periods. It is suitable for storing multiple cooled Ice Rings for alternating use, includes a mesh pocket for ice packs to maintain cooling for a long time, and features a hand strap for easy portability. The cooling retention time is approximately 4 to 6 hours, making it useful for long-distance and long-duration work activities, golf, stadiums, and other leisure activities.
Meanwhile, M-Pack Plus is a certified disabled-owned company registered with the Public Procurement Service’s Venture Nara for manufacturing goods and is registered as a partner with MRO suppliers such as SubOne and iMarket Korea. It supplies products to public institutions, local governments, outdoor workers, construction workers, fire stations, quarantine medical staff, and vulnerable groups.
M-Pack Plus announced that as part of its "Heatwave and Heat-Related Illness Prevention Solution" campaign to promote safety and health, following participation in the 2023 Korea Public Procurement Expo, it will participate in the Korea International Cool Industry Expo (Daegu EXCO) from May 17 to 19 and the International Safety and Health Exhibition (KINTEX 2nd Exhibition Hall, Booth No. S406) from July 3 to 6. The company will conduct buyer consultations, showcases, experience zones, and on-site discount sales targeting safety and health managers, local governments, public procurement officials, and buyers.
