Supply of 'Lunit INSIGHT CXR' to Overseas Deployment Units
Medical AI company Lunit announced on the 15th that it will expand the pilot introduction of AI solutions to overseas deployed troops and medical institutions in remote units to advance military medical environments.
Recently, Lunit signed an agreement with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) to proceed with the 4th year task of the 'AI Convergence Medical Imaging Diagnostic Reading System Project' and agreed to supply the chest X-ray AI image analysis solution 'Lunit INSIGHT CXR.'
Previously, in the 3rd year of the project last year, Lunit piloted Lunit INSIGHT CXR in military medical institutions of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, including the Armed Forces Medical Command and the Armed Forces Capital Hospital. Based on this, in the 4th year of the project this year, the scope of solution provision will be expanded to overseas military hospitals and Korean deployed units in addition to domestic military hospitals.
In particular, efforts will be focused on improving the medical environment of remote units with weak medical infrastructure, such as naval vessels. To this end, a customized AI solution linked with portable X-ray imaging equipment will be developed, and a stable utilization system will be established.
Seobum Seok, CEO of Lunit, said, "This year is the first year that Lunit's military medical AI service, proven domestically, will be introduced to overseas military hospitals and deployed units." He added, "In the future, we will further accelerate the expansion of medical AI services targeting not only military medical institutions but also public health centers nationwide, as well as strengthening public medical infrastructure."
Since 2020, Lunit has participated in the project by forming a consortium with Vasgene Bio. As the consortium's lead company, Lunit is responsible for overall project management and supplying Lunit INSIGHT CXR, while Vasgene Bio provides AI solutions for musculoskeletal fracture diseases.
