Hadong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is creating a rest area for farmers to support their farming activities.
On the 12th, Hadong-gun announced that it was selected for the Gyeongnam Province pilot project, the Agricultural Work Rest Shelter Project, which will serve as a community space for farmers.
The agricultural work rest shelter is a container-type facility located on developable land in major greenhouse production areas, providing auxiliary convenience facilities to assist farmers in their farming activities.
Hadong-gun plans to create a container-type rest area by October with a project budget of 67 million KRW, including 20.1 million KRW from provincial funds and 46.9 million KRW from county funds.
The Namsan area of Hoengcheon-myeon is a region where about 90 farmers, including village residents and members of the minari (water dropwort), strawberry, and chwinamul (aster scaber) farming groups, work across 20 hectares of greenhouses and about 10 mountain distribution collection centers.
An official from Hadong-gun stated, “As part of the 8th administration’s agricultural welfare policy, we plan to operate this project on a pilot basis first,” adding, “We will do our best to improve farmers’ working environments to enable more efficient agricultural management.”
