Two elderly men in their 80s who were hospitalized at a nursing hospital in Gwangju fought each other, fell, and eventually died while receiving treatment at the hospital.
The Gwangju Northern Police Station announced on the 12th that they have booked A (85) on charges of assault causing injury and are investigating.
A is suspected of pushing B and causing injury in the hallway of a nursing hospital in Ilgok-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 22nd of last month.
At the time, the two reportedly started arguing while opening and closing a window to ventilate the hospital room. The argument escalated into a physical fight, during which A pushed B, causing him to fall and sustain lacerations on his forehead and other areas.
B was transferred to a university hospital, underwent suturing surgery, and was receiving treatment, but ultimately passed away on the 10th.
The police have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death and are investigating the precise circumstances of the incident.
A is currently charged with assault causing injury, but if it is found that B's death was influenced by the assault, the charge will be changed to assault causing death.
