60s Male Mistakenly Enters Debtor's House
An incident occurred where the front door of an apartment in Gangnam, Seoul was repeatedly struck with a blunt object.
On the 12th, the police announced that they have booked and are investigating a man in his 60s, Mr. A, on charges including property damage. According to the police, Mr. A attempted to break in by pressing the doorbell multiple times and knocking on the door several times at a newly built apartment in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 6th.
At that time, the homeowner was away on a trip, leaving the house empty. Mr. A confirmed the absence of the homeowner and committed the crime. The homeowner confirmed through a mobile phone app that the doorbell had been pressed continuously for over five hours, from 4:45 PM to around 10 PM.
Two days later, when the homeowner returned, they found the front door damaged and broken soju bottles scattered around, and reported it to the police. The door appeared dented as if struck with a blunt object, and the doorbell and door lock were scratched with a sharp object.
The police, who responded to the report, collected fingerprints at the scene and reviewed CCTV footage to identify Mr. A. During the investigation, Mr. A stated that although he had no acquaintance with the victim, he mistook the house for that of someone with whom he had a debt relationship and committed the crime.
A police official said, “Mr. A has confessed to all the crimes,” and added, “The investigation is in its final stages.”
