Patent Registration Rate Also Increased from 75% in 2019 to 92% Last Year
Hyundai Mobis announced on the 12th that it received the highest group award (Presidential Citation) at the 58th Invention Day ceremony held at the COEX Auditorium in Samseong-dong, Seoul. This recognition was for its contribution to enhancing national competitiveness through the discovery of advanced technologies. The event was attended by President Yoon Suk-yeol, Baek Man-gi, Chairman of the National Intellectual Property Committee, and Lee In-sil, Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
The company was evaluated as having a well-rounded record and qualifications in intellectual property creation and patent management. The number of domestic and international patent and design applications increased more than fourfold from 729 in 2018 to 2,941 last year. The patent registration rate also rose from 75% in 2019 to 92% last year. For the first time, the proportion of overseas patent applications surpassed domestic ones last year.
Employees are encouraged to file patents in future mobility core technologies such as autonomous driving and communication fields. Patents discovered include world-first advanced mobility technologies such as the brainwave-based inattentiveness care system Embrain, advanced intelligent headlights, and the e-Corner system. The number of domestic and international patent applications in these fields also increased from 146 in 2018 to 1,015 last year.
To support researchers' activities, creative research efforts are encouraged through events such as the ‘Outstanding Job Invention Awards Ceremony.’ Additionally, the company has purchased excellent patents held by domestic and international universities, companies, and research institutions. Wireless charging standards are a representative example.
