Korean Air Selected as Skytrax '5-Star Airline' for the Second Consecutive Time

Korean Air announced on the 12th that it has been selected as a ‘5-star airline’ for the highest rating once again this year in the ‘Skytrax Airline Rating’ by Skytrax, a globally prestigious airline consulting and evaluation firm based in the UK, following its recognition in 2020.

Skytrax, established in 1989 and headquartered in London, UK, is an airline consulting and evaluation organization. Every year, it assesses the service levels of airlines worldwide and assigns ratings ranging from the lowest ‘1 star’ to the highest ‘5 stars,’ which signifies world-class service. Due to COVID-19, evaluations were not conducted last year and the year before.

This certification was conducted by Skytrax’s professional evaluators who boarded Korean Air flights as ‘mystery shoppers’ and comprehensively assessed various aspects over approximately two weeks, including airport services such as check-in, lounges, and transfer procedures, as well as in-flight services like meals, amenities, and cabin service.

Korean Air’s achievement of the ‘5-star’ rating was recognized for high marks across all areas of airline service, including upgrades to in-flight meals, wine, and Audio Video On Demand (AVOD) services, continuous modernization of its fleet through the introduction of next-generation aircraft, and enhanced customer service.

Since March, Korean Air has developed and offered passengers a ‘Korean-style vegan menu’ made with seasonal ingredients. Alongside this, it has introduced 52 new wines personally selected by the world-renowned sommelier Mark Albrecht. Additionally, since January, Korean Air has implemented an ‘in-flight meal pre-order service’ for international Prestige Class passengers departing from Korea, allowing them to enjoy a more special dining experience in the sky.

Korean Air’s A321neo Prestige seats, the first of their kind introduced by a domestic airline, provide passengers with comfort through fully flat bed-type seats that recline 180 degrees despite being on a narrow-body aircraft. Furthermore, Korean Air continuously updates its in-flight AVOD system with over 300 movies as well as the latest globally popular K-content, striving to deliver an impressive experience to airline travelers.

Meanwhile, Korean Air’s efforts to improve service quality were recognized when it became the first domestic airline to receive the Consumer-Centered Management (CCM) certification twice consecutively in December last year. Recently, it was also ranked first in the large airline category in the National Customer Satisfaction Index (NCSI) evaluation conducted by the Korea Productivity Center, a domestic service quality assessment institution.

Korean Air plans to continue enhancing the quality of its services by understanding diverse customer needs and maximizing customer value through field-oriented management.
