Werther's Garden is a garden designed in an approximately 1,000㎡ (300-pyeong) area around the Goethe statue installed in World Park, inspired by Goethe's novel The Sorrows of Young Werther and Goethe's poem "May Song," which celebrates spring.
The design tells the love story of Werther, who fell in love at first sight with Charlotte on the way to the ballroom. A mound (a small hill made by piling soil) was created outside the garden to depict a forest ballroom, and a stone path inscribed with the original text of "May Song" was installed in the center of the garden to add romance.
About 23,000 flowering plants and trees, including lavender, hydrangea, and birch, were planted. Photo zones such as a mirror wall for taking mirror selfies were set up, and LED firefly lights and aurora lighting were installed so visitors can enjoy the garden even at night.
A Lotte Corporation official said, "Werther's Garden is a romantic space where Goethe's literature and beautiful flowers harmonize," adding, "We hope visitors fully enjoy May, when spring and summer meet, at Lotte World Tower."
