Nexon recorded its highest single-quarter performance in the first quarter of 2023.
On the 11th, Nexon announced that it posted sales of 124 billion yen (KRW 1.192 trillion) and an operating profit of 56.2 billion yen (KRW 540.6 billion) in the first quarter. Sales increased by 36% and operating profit by 46% compared to the same period last year.
Nexon achieved its highest single-quarter sales and operating profit thanks to stable performance of flagship PC games such as ‘FIFA Online 4’ and ‘Dungeon & Fighter’, as well as mobile games including ‘FIFA Online 4’ and ‘Dungeon & Fighter’.
By segment, PC online sales increased by 37% year-on-year due to the record growth for five consecutive quarters of ‘FIFA Online 4’ and strong performance of ‘Dungeon & Fighter’ in the China region.
Mobile sales also rose 33% year-on-year, driven by the upward trend of ‘FIFA Mobile’ boosted by the World Cup effect since the end of last year and the positive response to the first anniversary content update of ‘Blue Archive’.
Sales in the Korea region increased by 36% year-on-year, while sales in the China region grew 45% year-on-year as ‘Dungeon & Fighter’ exceeded expectations.
Owen Mahoney, CEO of Nexon, said, “Nexon, which achieved record growth in the first quarter, has proven the excellent competitiveness and continuous growth potential of its global franchises. If the many new titles currently in development are added to the strong franchises we are servicing, we can expect good results going forward.”
Meanwhile, Nexon will launch ‘Veiled Expert’, a new title from Nexon Games starting Steam Early Access, followed by the PC and console multi-platform game ‘First Descendant’. It also plans to release various new titles including ‘The Finals’ developed by Embark Studios, ‘Mabinogi Mobile’, and ‘Warhaven’.
