The Gwangju Buk-gu Council announced on the 11th that Councilor Kim Geon-an urged measures to address the urban regeneration projects that have failed to be revitalized due to poor management despite hundreds of billions of won of residents' tax money being invested, during the 2nd plenary session of the 286th extraordinary meeting on the 10th.
Councilor Kim pointed out cases where facilities were not utilized according to the purpose of the project due to urban regeneration projects being promoted without consideration of local conditions and project feasibility, criticizing the poor post-management.
Regarding the Munheung-dong Pungmul Gallery, he stated, "Since its establishment in 2017, only 10 exhibitions have been held to date, wasting operating expenses for five years," and criticized, "It is shocking that a facility built by an administrative agency has been neglected for years."
He also pointed out, "In the case of the Jungheung-dong Station Community Center, there have been only 70 facility rentals in total, the village cafe has ceased operation due to profitability issues, and the Im-dong Budream Eoullim Center has been left vacant for over a year after only the facility was constructed."
Councilor Kim concluded his question by saying, "The executing agency is packaging the urban regeneration projects as achievements, but when looking at the actual operation status, projects that have invested hundreds of billions of won of tax money are not showing significant effects," and urged, "Please make continuous efforts through ongoing post-management so that residents can feel the effects of the projects."
