Geumcheon Future Scholarship Foundation aims to achieve a principal fund of 10 billion KRW by 2027
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) formed the ‘Geumcheon Future Talent Development Pan-Citizen Promotion Committee’ to revitalize the Geumcheon Future Scholarship Project and held its inauguration ceremony at 5 p.m. on the 10th in the main auditorium of Geumcheon-gu Office.
The Promotion Committee consists of a total of 156 members, including local residents passionate about Geumcheon-gu’s scholarship projects and talent development, G-Valley companies, and heads of private organizations. They plan to promote the foundation’s establishment purpose, scholarship projects, and propose policies going forward.
The Geumcheon Future Scholarship Foundation is a corporate foundation established in 2007 to cultivate global talents and support economically disadvantaged students in the region. Every year, it selects and supports regular scholarship recipients (in areas such as academic excellence, arts and sports specialties, good deeds, multicultural backgrounds, and self-directed dream fulfillment) as well as the ‘Challenge! Global Exploration Team.’ To date, it has awarded scholarships totaling 2.2 billion KRW to over 1,600 students.
This year, the Geumcheon Future Scholarship Foundation has achieved a principal fund of 4.2 billion KRW, including 1 billion KRW contributed by the district government, and aims to reach 10 billion KRW by 2027. Going forward, it plans to expand voluntary private donations by utilizing the Promotion Committee’s network.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “The Geumcheon Future Scholarship Foundation is preparing for a new leap forward with the launch of the ‘Geumcheon Future Talent Development Pan-Citizen Promotion Committee.’ We will implement educational policies to ensure that no youth in Geumcheon is excluded from learning opportunities.”
