Gwangju Nam-gu to Hold Permanent Art Market Every Weekend in Yangnim-dong

On the 11th, Nam-gu announced that the Yangnim Art Market will be held every Sunday at the Craft Street Lawn Plaza in Penguin Village, Yangnim-dong.

Nam-gu will operate the art market every Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM until the end of October, but it will be closed during the peak summer months of July and August, as well as during the Good Morning Yangnim Festival and Craft Week.

In addition, to provide visitors with various attractions and entertainment, busking performance teams will be publicly selected to perform regularly, and staff will be deployed on-site for safety prevention.

The Yangnim Art Market is a cultural and artistic project prepared to revitalize exchanges between various artists based in Yangnim-dong, such as those on Craft Street, and visitors, as well as to breathe new life into various parts of Yangnim-dong.

Nam-gu opened the first permanent art market last year, and due to high satisfaction from local artists and visitors, decided to continue the project this year.

In particular, additional art market sellers were discovered among resident artists of Craft Street and local artists to diversify the range of items for sale.

The number of teams participating in this year’s permanent art market has greatly increased from 20 teams last year to 50 teams.

A Nam-gu official said, "We are providing new attractions and entertainment through the regular weekend permanent art market," adding, "This will increase visitors’ length of stay and greatly contribute to revitalizing the commercial district around Yangnim-dong."
