From the 12th, two ‘Alive Station’ locations will operate 24 hours... Health consultations and more provided to visitors on opening day
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) has established two mobile worker rest areas called ‘Alive Station’ (hereafter referred to as rest areas) in Yeoksam-dong, and will begin operation from the 12th.
Mobile workers refer to those who work while on the move, such as delivery workers, couriers, substitute drivers, private tutors, and insurance planners. Due to the nature of their work, many face difficulties as their rest times are irregular and there are few suitable resting spaces.
Gangnam-gu has the highest number of food service businesses and workers among Seoul’s districts, making it an area with high demand for mobile workers. In particular, Yeoksam-dong, a densely populated area of single-person households, has been found to have the largest scale of delivery service usage nationwide.
Accordingly, the district has set up rest areas at the back gate of Gangnam Employment and Startup Hub Center (Location 1, Yeoksam-ro 160) and near the public parking lot behind Yeoksam Station Finance Center (Location 2, Teheran-ro 152), operating them 24 hours a day throughout the year.
To ensure mobile workers can use the rest areas comfortably, parking spaces for motorcycles and taxis have been secured outside the rest areas, and inside, equipped with heating and cooling facilities, smartphone chargers and beverage vending machines have been installed.
At 2 p.m. on the 12th, when the rest areas begin operation, Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospital will support mobile workers by providing medical volunteer services. Health consultations will be offered to mobile workers visiting Location 2, along with traditional herbal medicine and pain relief patches.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “I hope these rest areas become spaces where mobile workers can take a moment to rest,” and added, “We will continue to implement policies that reflect the voices from the field.”
