Full Effort to Restore and Revitalize Rural Living Areas
Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is making swift progress in creating a "Sancheong where everyone wants to live" by promoting the Rural Agreement and rural spatial maintenance projects.
According to the county on the 11th, they are implementing the Rural Agreement project, signed last year between the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Sancheong-gun, as well as the rural spatial maintenance project selected through a public contest.
The Rural Agreement project, aimed at transforming rural areas into spaces where everyone wants to live, is being carried out with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs providing national funding as a package for the Southern Living Area Activation Plan established by Sancheong-gun, while Gyeongnam Province and Sancheong-gun allocate local funds to proceed with the project.
Previously, Sancheong-gun was selected for this project in 2021 and signed the agreement in July last year.
The agreement period is five years (2022?2026), with a total project cost of 22.1 billion KRW.
The main project contents include ▲ revitalization of the rural center in Sicheon-myeon ▲ establishment of a basic living base in Danseong-myeon ▲ second phase of establishing a basic living base in Sindeung-myeon ▲ improvement of living conditions in vulnerable areas of Saengbiryang-myeon ▲ rural house renovation ▲ and strengthening of city and county capabilities.
Additionally, Sancheong-gun was selected in July last year for the "Rural Spatial Maintenance Public Contest Project" led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and is currently promoting the maintenance project for harmful facilities such as livestock sheds.
This project will invest 25 billion KRW by 2026.
Through this project, Sancheong-gun expects to revitalize rural living areas by reorganizing rural spaces, which have lost vitality due to aging and population decline, in a way that fits the characteristics of Sancheong-gun.
A county official said, "We are currently establishing a basic plan to maintain harmful facilities in the Morrae district of Sindeung-myeon, where complaints about foul odors have been continuously raised, and to improve space utilization and residential conditions for regional development." He added, "We will continue to advance strategies to successfully promote the Rural Agreement project and the rural spatial maintenance project."
He continued, "Public-private cooperation is essential to effectively implement locally led, customized rural policies," and added, "We ask residents to maintain continuous interest and passion in solving rural issues going forward."
