Yoon Invites Families of Meritorious Persons

President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife Kim Keon-hee attended the '1st Anniversary Special Concert for the Opening of the Blue House' held on the evening of the 10th at the Blue House Grand Garden.

This concert, organized to commemorate the first anniversary of the Blue House opening to the public, which took place simultaneously with President Yoon's inauguration on May 10 last year, was held under the subtitle "Youth (靑春), Spring of the Blue House" and lasted for 90 minutes. About 1,000 people were invited, including national merit recipients and their families, firefighters, police officers and their families. Among the attendees were Mr. Hwang Eun-tae, father of the late Sergeant Hwang Do-hyun who died in the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, Ms. Kim Oh-bok, mother of the late Corporal Seo Jeong-woo who died during North Korea's Yeonpyeong Island shelling provocation, and Ms. Lee Kkot-nim, wife of the late Police Lieutenant Yu Jae-guk who died while trying to save a citizen who jumped into the Han River.

In his greeting, President Yoon said, "This space originally belongs to the people, so we step back and the people use it," adding, "It is the same principle as the palaces once used by the royal family now being used by the people as parks and cultural heritage sites." He then listed the invited merit recipients, introducing them as "those who made the Republic of Korea, the foundation of our peace and prosperity, possible along with their families." President Yoon emphasized, "When we were growing up, our parents taught us 'Do not cause trouble to others' and 'Be grateful if you receive kindness,'" adding, "That is the foundation of family, society, and the nation."

The concert featured performances by popular singers such as Jung Hoon-hee, Song Chang-sik, Forestella, Ailee, and 10cm, as well as fusion gugak group Seodo Band, Heart Heart Orchestra, firefighter choir, and children's choir. Performances by the dance team Just Jerk and traditional percussion company Run, large brush drawing, and large drum media art also followed. The concert will be broadcast on SBS on the 20th at 6:30 PM.
