Chungnam, Naepo New Town Idle Land 'Public Garden Plots' for Lease

Idle land in Naepo New Town will be allocated as public gardens to local residents.

The Chungnam Innovation City Local Government Association announced on the 10th that it will allocate about 20,000㎡ of the Yubo1 site in Singyeong-ri, Hongbuk-eup, Hongseong-gun as public gardens through the 'Naepo New Town Idle Land Landscape Specialization Project.'

The public gardens will be provided free of charge at 16㎡ per household to a total of 788 households. Previously, the association recruited applicants among Naepo New Town residents and institution workers last month, and finalized the allocation recipients through a lottery held on the 2nd.

The allocation of public gardens has been promoted annually since 2012 to support leisure activities for local residents and provide experiential learning opportunities for children.

However, until last year, the province was in charge of the allocation, but from this year, the association has taken over the related project with its launch and is implementing it.

The land is supplied by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), and the Provincial Government Relocation Residents Livelihood Association assists with the operation.

This year, the public garden operation period is until November 30.

Lee Seung-cheol, chairman of the Chungnam Innovation City Local Government Association, said, “We hope the weekend farms (public gardens) will become a place for agricultural experience that strengthens family bonds and helps harmony between migrants and original residents.”
