An씨 "I Will Be Present with My Husband During Childbirth" Statement Revealed
Comedian Ahn Young-mi spoke out about the controversy surrounding giving birth abroad in the United States.
On the 8th, Ahn stated through a comment on her Instagram post, "Thinking about military service issues already feels like a very distant matter," and added, "Rather than speculating about an uncertain future, how about blessing the baby who is currently wriggling in my belly?"
When a netizen commented, "If the father had been in Vietnam or the Philippines, would she have given birth there?" Ahn replied, "Whether my husband was in Vietnam or the Philippines, I would have gone," and said, "How could I possibly go through the precious pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare?something that may only happen once in a lifetime?entirely alone? It has to be together with the loving husband."
Another netizen said, "I thought you would come back right after giving birth, but you are staying there to raise the child as well," to which Ahn responded, "That's right."
Ahn married a non-celebrity man working at a foreign game company in 2020 and announced her 13th week of pregnancy this January. She is currently planning to give birth in the United States, where her husband is residing.
Earlier, in a video released on Shin Bong-seon's YouTube channel on the 4th, Shin gave Ahn a baby shirt as a gift and said, "When you said you were going to (the US), I felt like crying," to which Ahn replied, "I'm not really going that far, so why would you feel that way?" This sparked suspicions about Ahn's overseas childbirth.
Meanwhile, according to the Nationality Act, a child born abroad while a direct ascendant is residing without the intention of permanent residence can only report renunciation of nationality if they meet any of the following conditions related to military service obligations: ▲having completed or being considered to have completed active duty, full-time reserve service, supplementary service, or alternative service ▲being incorporated into wartime labor service ▲being granted exemption from military service.
