Ulsan Ulju-gun Childcare Comprehensive Support Center (Director Min Seon-yeong) is implementing a ‘Visiting Parent Counseling’ program for guardians of young children enrolled in local daycare centers.
This project provides professional and immediate feedback through one-on-one personalized parenting coaching addressing questions commonly experienced while raising children.
First, participants complete an online temperament and personality test (TCI) for adults and children in advance, after which a counselor visits the daycare center to offer guidance on understanding the temperament and tendencies of both parent and child and ways to enhance their interactions based on the test results.
For those interested, in-depth counseling and testing linked with the Childcare Comprehensive Support Center’s parent counseling are also available.
Since its launch in 2020, the ‘Visiting Parent Counseling’ program has shown high satisfaction among participants by helping them understand the temperament differences between children and parents and apply this knowledge to parenting. Especially, providing counseling at the daycare center where the child is enrolled increases the accessibility and convenience of the service.
Encouraged by this positive response, the Ulju-gun Childcare Comprehensive Support Center is expanding the visiting parent counseling to 14 daycare centers (7 in the central area, 4 in the western area, and 3 in the southern area) and 50 families, and plans to start parent counseling at the Onyang Childcare Comprehensive Support Center from next month.
Director Min Seon-yeong said, “We expect the visiting parent counseling to be an opportunity to strengthen positive interactions between parents and children and enhance family stability,” adding, “We will continue to contribute to safe and healthy parenting support and the realization of happy child-rearing.”
The Ulju-gun Childcare Comprehensive Support Center offers various childcare-related services for parents of infants and young children in Ulju-gun, including emotional and psychological counseling, play and language coaching, detailed developmental assessments, and group counseling.
