Gwanak-gu Establishes Disaster Simulation for Resident Safety

Signing of Business Agreement for Disaster Situation Awareness ‘Digital Twin Platform’

Selected for ‘Digital Twin Platform Construction’ Contest Hosted by the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation... Business Agreement Signed with 7 Organizations

Establishing Rapid Response System by Recognizing Risk Situations Such as Fire, Collapse, Flooding, and Complex Disasters through Simulation

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) signed a business agreement on the 8th to build a ‘Digital Twin Platform’ for disaster situation awareness and rapid response through disaster simulation.

Digital Twin is a technology that creates a twin of real-world objects and simulates possible situations on a computer to predict outcomes. It can be utilized for disaster prevention by implementing the actual terrain and landmarks of Gwanak-gu in a virtual reality world.

The district was selected for the ‘Disaster Situation Awareness Digital Twin Platform Construction’ project contest, with a total project cost of 6.4 billion KRW, hosted by the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation. It signed agreements with 7 organizations and agreed to cooperate in building the Gwanak-gu Digital Twin Platform from May 2023 to December 2025.

The agreement was signed with seven organizations: Mgen Solution, Chung-Ang University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, Korea Convergence IT, Identify, Onpum, Wookyung Information Technology, and Space AD. The agreement focuses on establishing a mutual cooperation system for disaster prevention environment, including ▲building a test bed for disaster situation awareness data collection ▲sharing local government data ▲developing the digital twin platform ▲collaborating on platform development needs.

Through this agreement, the district expects to build a digital twin platform that can pre-analyze risk factors related to fires, collapses, flooding, and complex disasters involving underground facilities, thereby preventing various disasters and preparing a faster response system in case of actual disaster occurrences.

Mayor Park Junhee said, “We will do our best to make Gwanak safe from disasters through mutual cooperation between the disaster data collection and analysis and digital twin implementation capabilities of partner organizations and our district’s disaster safety projects.”
