Ahn Cheol-soo: "If the Yoon Government Does Not Change, There Will Be No Victory in the General Election"

Facebook Post "We Must Take the People's Disappointment Seriously"

On the 8th, Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, stated on the first anniversary of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's launch, "If we do not change now, we cannot win the general election."

On the same day, Ahn posted on Facebook under the title "If we do not change now, we cannot win the general election," emphasizing, "The regime change saved the Republic of Korea," but also stressed, "We must seriously accept the fact that many citizens are disappointed, as shown in opinion polls and other results."

He then listed four reasons why the people supported the regime change: first, to correct the wrong policies of the Moon Jae-in administration; second, to rebuild the Republic of Korea through reforms for the future; third, not to appoint only those who obey orders but to appoint the best talents who perform well; and fourth, to unify the Republic of Korea, which has been divided into extreme camps.

Ahn evaluated, "While the first expectation has been met, the others are insufficient," adding, "As a result, many have given up their expectations in disappointment."

Ahn said, "During the presidential election, we promised a 'National Unity Government' as a one team for a better regime change," emphasizing, "The National Unity Government we promised is a 'Future Government,' a 'Reform Government,' and a 'Unity Government.'" He continued, "We have not lived up to those expectations. Although the refusal of the presidential election results and unconditional opposition by the major opposition party are factors, it is also clear that we brought some of this upon ourselves," adding, "Continuing like this is not the path the people expected. It is not the path to the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration. It is not the path to victory in the general election."

Ahn warned, "We must change. If we do not change now, we cannot win the general election. If we lose the general election, no reforms can be made," and "If reforms cannot be made, the regime may be handed back to the Democratic Party. If the regime is lost, the Republic of Korea will face a dark future."

He also pledged, "For the Republic of Korea to have greater strength for greater dreams, we must not lose our way. I promise the people that I will devote myself to the Republic of Korea without faltering through any difficulties until the end."
